EIWO has been successfully managing properties in southern Ontario for more than 40 years. Incorporated in 1973 to professionally manage the apartment buildings that were built by our two founding German families, the name was chosen to correspond with their company in Germany – a company known for building quality homes since the early 1960s. The name is an abbreviation of the German name “Eigenheim- und Wohnungsbau” which translates to “a builder of residential family homes”.
From its base in Kitchener, Ontario, EIWO now manages thousands of residential units in buildings ranging in size from 11 to 245 units, along with office and industrial properties. Retail holdings under management range from strip plazas to multi-tenanted enclosed shopping malls.
Changing With The Times
From the original family properties, EIWO built up a substantial portfolio of apartment units in the early 1970s. When rent controls tipped the playing field in 1976, EIWO adapted quickly and shifted its portfolio to focus on commercial real estate.
Since the late 1980s, EIWO became known as a leader in tax advice and real estate property guidance for international investors. By the early 1990s, EIWO managed approximately 2,000 residential apartment units in high- and low-rise buildings as well as a substantial portfolio of office, retail, and industrial properties.
EIWO expanded operations into the Hamilton area in 2001, and now manages properties throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). This expansion included adding a new condominium division. (www.jandwcondo-management.com)
